The Departments of Economics of the Universities
of Venice "Ca' Foscari" and Trento, the Faculty of Economics
of the University of Bologna at Forlì, the University of Geneva,
the European Association for Banking History, in cooperation with Venice
International University, invite students to apply to the Sixth Summer
School to be held in Venice on the historical setting of the island of
San Servolo, September 4-9, 2006. The Summer School consists of a week-long
intensive workshop held by internationally renowned experts presenting
case studies from a wide range of historical and geographical backgrounds,
documenting and discussing
Lectures are designed to provide a forum for discussion of work in progress
by student participants. Two sessions will be devoted to students' doctoral
projects. All sessions will be conducted in English.
Access to the program is strictly limited to 15 graduate students, who
will stay at the residential facility of Venice International University.
Successful applicants will be charged a registration fee of € 400 to cover
participation and accommodation costs (application
deadline June 16, 2006). Two scholarships
covering the registration fee will be awarded to two outstanding candidates.
Priority will be given to students coming from distant and/or disadvantaged
countries. As enrolment is limited, early applications are encouraged.

Aires), Jayati Ghosh (Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi), Joost Jonkers
(Universiteit Utrecht), Ronald C. Michie (University of Durham), Hans-Joachim
Voth (Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona)
