Introduction
The Southern and Eastern African Trade Information Negotiations Institute
(SEATINI) in cooperation with the Other Canon Foundation and the Ford
Foundation will hold a 10-day post-graduate course in Advanced Development
Economics and Policy Making. The main aim of the Equator School is to
encourage alternative thinking to mainstream economics in the Other Canon
tradition.
Admission requirements
The Equator School will consider applications from graduates who are working
in NGOs or civil society, and who are familiar with development work but
have not had the chance to get acquainted with alternative thinking. Workers
familiar with development work but without any degree will also be considered.
Interested academics from academic institutions will also be considered.
The number of participants will be limited to 20. Admission is open only
to applicants from Southern and Eastern Africa.

Course
The school will offer a 10 day course at post-graduate level in "Advanced
Development Economics and Policy Making”.

• Alternative Development Paradigm
Certificate
A certificate of participation will be issued upon acceptable participation
in the course. This includes satisfactory participation in group work,
presentations and assignments.
Course Fee
Limited scholarships covering only airfares and accommodation and meals
will be offered to selected participants.
Application Procedure
Interested applicants should send brief CVs of their work/academic history.
These CVs should not be more than one page. The CVs must be accompanied
by a motivational cover letter of not more than 500 words stating:
a) Why you wish to be considered for the course,
b) How attending this course will benefit you and your organisation..
