The Foundation is organising a four-day workshop in Bangalore from March

The faculty for the workshop will be constituted by experts from different
parts of the country. At the workshop, participants will attend specialised
lectures on theoretical, methodological and empirical developments in
research on agrarian issues, and will have an opportunity to meet workshop
faculty members for discussions. Selected research scholars will also
be asked to make presentations on their research.
The workshop is primarily aimed at research scholars in the social sciences
who are at an advanced stage of their research. The topic of research
should preferably be related to the following three areas:
(i) Agrarian distress in rural India;
(ii) Dynamics of socio-economic change in rural India;
(iii) Class relations in Indian agriculture.
The Foundation will meet participants’ expenses on rail travel by
sleeper class, food and accommodation and pay them a small daily allowance
during the workshop. Research scholars who wish to participate should
apply with their most recent curriculum vitae, a short note (in about
1500 words) on their research topics and progress in research, and a letter
of recommendation from their research supervisor. The last date for applications
is February 15, 2004, and selected applicants will be notified by February
