Employment Generation in Zimbabwe: Current Constraints and Alternative Strategies
Tafadzwa Roberta Muropa

The paper seeks to highlight the challenges that face the employment sector in Zimbabwe, by analyzing the historical context from the eighties to the present. The paper also emphasises the impact of labor migration on the country, and how young people have been forced to seek alternative sources of employment in order to sustain their families. Finally, the presentation also seeks to point out the alternatives that exist in meeting the challenges of unemployment which include strengthening linkages between labor movements, academics and civil society across the region, and to lobby for 'decent work' to the government and to be active in generating employment in a bid to alleviate poverty in Zimbabwe
