CONTRACT

The contract will be a full-time three-year contract beginning as soon as possible.

THE ORGANISATIONS

The IEJ is a non-profit activist think tank located in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The IEJ’s mission is to advance economic justice by collaborating in the provision of rigorous, accessible research and policy alternatives that empower progressive social forces to create systemic change from above and below in South Africa and the continent.

IDEAs is a South-led and South-South pluralist network of progressive economists and other social scientists committed to the use of heterodox tools of analyses for teaching and training and for policy alternatives towards a fairer, greener, and safer world.

The IEJ and IDEAs are building a partnership across their respective feminist economics / political economy projects. The Senior Programme Officer will work on joint IEJ-IDEAs activities, as well as activities specific to each of the organisations.

The position is located within the IEJ and would be managed by the IEJ Programme Co-Director. In addition, the Senior Programme Officer would produce quarterly reports and have quarterly meetings with the Executive Director of IDEAs on relevant project activities and outputs. A joint project steering committee across the two organisations will be established.

The organisations are committed to gender and racial equity and transformation and will consider this when reviewing applications.
