YLS LPE: Money, Empire, and the Law Yale Law School (SLB 127), Apr 13, 2024.

The YLS Law and Political Economy (LPE) Student Group and Professors Aslı Ü. Bâli, Ntina Tzouvala, and Tendayi Achiume will be co-hosting a panel series entitled “Money, Empire, and the Law” taking place on Saturday, April 13th at the Yale Law School. This series will take place following the “TWAIL, Geopolitical Competition, and Non-Western Imperialisms” conference which will take place from Thursday, April 11 through Saturday, April 13th.

This series will be a two-part event articulating LPE perspectives on questions of transnational economic justice. The first panel, entitled “The Political Economy of the Global Financial System: Capital & Banking” will explore how current global financial structures perpetuate inequality and discuss how domestic theories of financial reform might benefit from a more internationally-situated perspective. The second panel “Masterclass: Research Methods in Global Political Economy” will explore global approaches and perspectives to LPE scholarship. It will discuss various mediums for engaging in transnational scholarship with a “Law and Political Economy” framework.

This convening will take place in a hybrid format at Yale Law School (SLB 127). Lunch and refreshments will be provided throughout the day.
